Editorial Policy

Acetate Club is an independent, affiliate-supported publication. These are the standards behind everything we publish. They exist so you can judge our work against a stated bar rather than take our word for it.

We never fabricate

There are no invented reviews, testimonials, star ratings, review counts, or before-and-after photos anywhere on this site. We do not make up specs, prices, or eye-health facts. If we can’t source something honestly, it doesn’t appear — a blank is better than a fiction. Product images come from the retailer, and we say so.

We’re honest about what we haven’t done

We don’t run a test lab and we don’t claim to have worn every frame we write about. We say so plainly rather than implying hands-on testing we haven’t done. Where we genuinely handle a frame in future, we’ll describe that specific experience honestly and never generalize it into a site-wide “we test everything.” Our full method is on the how we choose page.

We’re honest about materials

Acetate is our focus, but we won’t call something acetate that isn’t. When a brand’s frames are polycarbonate, TR90 or another material, we state it — even in a roundup, even when acetate would sound better. Where a listing doesn’t confirm the material or a measurement, we print “Not published” rather than guessing.

Every factual claim is cited

Claims about UV protection, eye health, and material science link to a published authority — the FDA, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the WHO, ISO standards, or the material manufacturer. We prefer primary and authoritative sources over aggregator blogs, and each research-heavy page lists its sources.

Commission never buys a recommendation

We earn affiliate commissions and disclose them everywhere they apply (see our affiliate disclosure). But the reasoning behind a pick is the same whether a link pays us or not. When a cheaper frame is the better buy, it wins. We do not accept payment for reviews or run sponsored placements disguised as editorial.

We correct our mistakes in the open

We get things wrong sometimes — a listing changes, a spec was misread. When a reader flags a factual error, we check it against the source, and if they’re right we fix it and note that we did. Prices refresh daily; we review picks quarterly and sooner when a frame is discontinued, so a page never recommends something you can’t buy. Spotted something? Tell us.
