Why this site exists
Sunglasses are one of the few products where the marketing budget dwarfs the thing you’re actually buying. Frames are sold on adjectives, materials are hidden behind vague words like “premium plastic,” and “we tested 40 pairs” roundups rarely tested anything you could verify. Acetate Clubexists to do the honest version of that job: read what a frame is actually made of, compare it on shape and fit, and say which frames earn their price — and which to skip.
Our whole editorial stance fits in a sentence: we tell you what we know, how we know it, and where we don’t know.When a seller won’t state a frame’s material or measurements, we print “Not published” rather than guessing. When a popular brand is polycarbonate and not acetate, we say so even in a roundup. And we have never invented a review, a rating, or a before-and-after — there are none anywhere on this site.

Acetate Club is written by Stephen V.. Acetate Club is written by Stephen V., an enthusiast who's genuinely into eyewear and the material it's cut from. I read the manufacturer specs, compile the frame measurements, and do the fit math on which shapes suit which faces — then I tell you plainly what's worth buying and what to skip. No optician's license, no test lab, and no frames I 'reviewed' that I've never handled.
That is a deliberate limit, and we’d rather be straight about it than borrow authority we haven’t earned. We are not opticians, we run no test lab, and we don’t claim to have worn every frame we write about. What we do instead is spelled out in full on our how we choosepage: spec-by-spec comparison, the fit math behind every recommendation, every factual claim cited to an authority, and honest verdicts that commission can’t buy.
